Project notes
Laptop Party is a real-time, browser-based screen-sharing platform built to eliminate the friction of traditional meeting tools. No downloads, no sign-ups, no camera required — users instantly share their screens with others using just a link.
The system is built around low-latency communication and peer-to-peer interaction. Recent work included moving from session-wide signaling to peer-targeted relay, implementing server-validated peer identity, and optimising cleanup of stale file and message state.
It also supports multi-format sharing within chat — images, audio, and files — making it more than a screen-sharing tool: a lightweight collaboration environment. The project reflects a deep focus on real-time systems, WebRTC communication, and user-first simplicity.
